Cofina is one of the most important media conglomerates in Portugal. It decided to enter the highly-competitive and tightly-regulated online gambling world by launching Our Bet (Nossa Aposta). ALTA helped define the overall experience, ensuring the portal's development as well as the integration with the gambling platform.

Challenge
Cofina was looking for a fresh brand that would allow it to stand apart from its main competitors. The media enterprise wanted a look and feel that showed character. They also wanted to inspire a casual and relaxed mood, without ever compromising the user experience. The greatest technical challenge was the integration of several game frameworks from different vendors.
Approach
The first step was benchmarking with the goal of gathering trends and standards from the international market's main players. UX and Visual Design were considered key differentiation factors right from the beginning, even though we had some constraints regarding gambling frameworks.
Outcome
The final product is a gaming platform that showcases a unique and functional design, addressing all the security requirements recommended by the regulator. The platform was created with the aim of engaging the user without ever forgetting about the promotion of responsible gambling.
Setting the tone
In terms of design, we wanted to provide a vibrant experience that could set the product apart from the competition. We performed thorough research, exploring different gambling websites. Together with stakeholders, it became clear that we needed to come up with the right look and feel: it had to be both innovative and unique, without distracting the user from the website's main purpose.
Integrating with game providers
We analyzed widgets, frameworks, functions, APIs, etc. The aim was to perform a careful rundown of the type of information provided by third-party vendors so that we could implement everything following high-quality standards.
Security, control and responsible gaming policy
Both the security of the system architecture and the strict control of usage and transactions were major concerns of gaming operators. Therefore, ALTA helped coordinate and also assisted in the creation of the system architecture. This allowed for system approval and ensured all regulations would be followed.
